United States Telegraph Stamps
An Intermediate Collection

Beginning in the first half of the Nineteenth Century, various commercial companies in the United States issued stamps to indicate prepayment of the cost of sending a telegram over their network or to indicate some other sort of form of payment, such as collection on receipt.

This site illustrates an intermediate collection of these stamps. That is, some less common items are included, but it is by no means close to completion.

The links in the following list will lead to pages containing the stamps associated with each company. When the site is fully coded, clicking on any stamp on a page will show it in larger size and provide some information about it.
