This beautifully engraved check of the Second National Bank of Boston bears a B1 imprint at the right. Very few checks or drafts have a B1 in this position. For some reason, Type B imprints in other colors are more commonly found printed on the right side.

This check, used by Ulysses Grant during his presidency, has both a B1 imprint and an adhesive revenue to pay the tax. There doesn't seem to be any reason for the adhesive, so perhaps President Grant forgot that the imprint was there.
