Charles Goodall

From August 1, 1866 to July 1, 1883 the tax on each pack with no more than 52 cards was five cents.

The five-cent Charles Goodall and Son stamp was issued from November 1870 into August of 1875. A total of 56,100 were issued on old paper and 1,099,100 on silk paper. The copy above was printed on silk paper.

Goodall operated out of London. The firm's agent in the United States was Victor E. Mauger (see the Victor E. Mauger & Petrie stamp, RU-13.)
