No one is certain why there is only one known copy of the Wilson stamp known today, but a credible story is that Wilson had not consulted his partner about ordering them, and had left his partner's name off them, so his partner destroyed virtually all of them in a fit of pique. The result is that only one collection of private die proprietary stamps can ever be complete.
