Alexander Underwood and Company

The Alexander Underwood stamps were designed to have a locomotive pictured on them, but Underwood's son substituted a picture of his father, much to that gentleman's chagrin. The stamps were issued from November 7, 1867 until March, 1872. 1,762,320 were printed on old paper and 220,000 on silk paper. This copy is on silk paper.
