This American Match Company was located in Cleveland, Ohio. It began issuing stamps at the same time that the American Match Company of Amsterdam stopped, but no connection was found between the two. The one-cent stamps were issued from August, 1869 through July, 1875. 1,893,620 were issued on old paper and 5,847,042 on silk paper. The one shown was printed on old paper.

The three-cent stamps were issued from April, 1869 until July, 1875. 1,567,146 were issued on old paper and 2,649,766 on silk paper. This one is on silk paper. (Image size is about 60% in proportion to the one-cent above.)

The known double impression on the three cent stamps occurs at the right side. Slight doubling can be seen on some of the outer and inner frame lines.
