American Match Company
This American Match Company was located in Cleveland, Ohio. It began issuing stamps at the same time that the American Match Company of Amsterdam stopped, but no connection was found between the two. The one-cent stamps were issued from August, 1869 through July, 1875. 1,893,620 were issued on old paper and 5,847,042 on silk paper. The one shown was printed on old paper.
The known double impression on the three cent stamps occurs at the right side. Slight doubling can be seen on some of the outer and inner frame lines.Return
